What A Fun Movie

NOW PLAYING ON BROADWAY

I just recently bought the new dvd of the movie, "Thoroughly Modern Millie." It stars Julie Andrews, Carol Channing, and Mary Tyler Moore. I had went and seen this movie when it was first released in 1967. I really liked it then and have always wanted to add it to my old movies collection.
Well it finally arrived after about 5 days later, as I had ordered it online. I sat down and watched it over again after many years. Wow! What a fun movie this is. I guess I was just too young to realize just what a great movie that it actually was when I first saw it. Or maybe I just spent too much time in the popcorn lines.
Anyway, I have fallen in love with it all over again. Julie Andrews is wonderful in it and for anyone who is not familiar with Carol Channing, she is simply adorable in this. "Raspberryyyyyyy..." Actually all the characters in it are well played quite comical.
The fashion is really something to see too. I wonder just how many ladies may have some of those old 20's style dresses still tucked away in their wardrobes? I my memory serves me correctly, these styles had came back in the very early 60s' just before the mini skirt fad of the mid to late 60's.
The movie is quite lengthy, (about 2hrs. 15 min.) and does have an intermission break. However, its one of those movies that you never want to end.
The movie is set back in the roaring 20's and starts off by Millie, played by Julie Andrews, getting a fast make-over and becoming a very modern 20's girl. The theme song is comical too if you listen to the words carefully. Seems there are young girls being kidnapped and sold into white slavery by the owner of a Chinese Apartment house in NYC.
Speaking of NYC, I understand that, "Thoroughly Modern Millie," is now playing on Broadway and is doing very well. I'd love to go there and see it.
If anyone has seen it on Broadway, I'd appreciate your input on how it was.
I would highly recommend anyone to see this picture. Especially if you like to laugh. GCJ
