How Far Are We Going To Take This Seperation From Church And State Thing?

Well, I've really heard it all now...

A blogger on JoeUser writes that they feel that when a Christian person becomes president in America that they should stop being a Christian. Just how far are they going to take this seperation of church and state thing? Oh and thats not all... They even gave scripture for it. A verse taken from St. Matthew 6:24 is quoted: "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or either he will hold to one, and despise the other. Ye can not serve God and mammon."

Hmm... does this have anything to do with being the president of our country? Or seperation of church and state? I don't think so. Its amazing how people can take scripture and twist it around to make it fit with what they want to believe.
Then they go even further to make accusations that president George Bush uses Christ in his speaking to win votes and influence people.
Maybe we should attach a wire to the legs of our president's, and when they mention anything concerning religion, give them a little jolt.
PRESIDENTIAL SHOCK TREATMENT

"Goodnight... and God da da dod YE HAW, bless America"

SEPERATION FROM CHURCH AND STATE:

1. The United States happens to be, for the most part, an English speaking and Christian nation but, does that really matter?
No way Jose'.
2. Many people who live here don't speak English but, they have that right.
3. Many here practice other religions other than Christianity but, its everybody's choice to do just that.
4. Many like to sleep in, eat fried chicken and watch football games all day on Sunday and not go to any church, hey go for it, you're allowed to.
5. The president of the U.S.A. has the right to practice his religion the same as anyone else does, could not be more true.
6. If the president of the U.S.A. tells everyone that they need to go to a Baptist church once or more per week, he has no right to.
7. If a student wants to bow his head at his/her desk and say a silent prayer for their sick mother at home, they have the right to.
8. If the principal tells all the students that they must kneel and repent of their sins before they go to their classes, he has no right to.
9. If Joe Liberman were elected president and decides to place the star of David on the White House lawn, its ok, I'd be happy for him.
10. If Joe Liberman gets elected president and tells us we all need to start celebrating Hunakkah, he would have no right to.
11. If you get offended because, I say to you, "Merry Christmas," you'd have every right to be.
12. If you slap me upside my head because, I tell you, "Merry Christmas," you would have no right to do that and, my head might get sore.
13. If a student wants to say, "one nation under God," thats just fine.
14. If a student don't want to say, "one nation under God," he/she don't have to, they can just skip that part.
15. If a student wants to just set at his/her desk and rest their feet while everyone else stands and says the pledge, they have the right to.
16. If you want to hang the Australian flag on your flag pole, go for it.
17. If you want to hang the Australian flag on your next door neighbor's flag pole, you better ask first, or your head might get sore.
18. If you have a problem with American money saying, "In God We Trust," just give it to someone else, they will be more than happy to spend it for you.

So, as you can see, seperation of church and state is clearly elementary when you think about it... GCJ

Very good. I can't believe I agreed with GCJ completely on something. I may even use it myself to illustrate the matter. Thanks.
