Please Don't Say

I had turned on my car radio this afternoon while making my commute to work and just happened to catch the conversation between an atheist and radio announcer, Willy Cunningham on Cincinnati's 700-WLW. The atheist was telling Willy all about how offended he was when people wished him a Merry Christmas. He rambled on further to say that Christians didn't really think about Jesus or the true reason that we were celebrating Christmas anyway, that all we really cared about on Christmas was giving and receiving gifts. He said that when we all get togather with our families that we don't set around and talk about Jesus or the real reason that we are there celebrating. We just have our dinners, exchange our gifts and go our seperate ways back to our respestive homes, without any thought of why we all gathered there togather.

This might just be true for some people that believe in Christ but, its certainly not true for me and I would hope that its not true for the majority of Christians either. How sad it must be to have never felt the Christmas Spirit. I can just be listening to a Christmas song and sometimes it will bring tears to my eyes as my mind begins to think of just what Christmas really does mean. Yeah, you can try to cover up the true meaning of Christmas with Santa Claus, reindeer, bright colored wrapping paper and glittering lights, snowmen, snowflakes and the like. All those things have their good intentions but, I have never felt any Spirit in any of those things.

Merry Christmas, always has, always is, and always will be just that... Merry Christmas! So please don't say "happy holidays" to me.
For anyone who don't happen to know, this is what the true meaning of Christmas is...

C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S

C- is for the "Christ" child, born upon this day

H- for "Herold" angels in the night

R- means our "redeemer"

I- means "Israel"

S- is for the "star" that shown so bright

T- is for "three" wisemen, they who traveled far

M- is for the "manger" where He lay

A- is for "all" He stands for

S- means "shepherds" came and, thats why there's a Christmas day.

" MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL"

OK, you're right - you do post some good articles! I totally agree with you here. Of course Christians think about the meaning of Christmas, or why on earth would they call themselves Christians?? I know a good worship song can bring tears to my eyes, so hearing those Christmas carols this time of year is a great reminder - you don't always have to talk about it though... some people are so ignorant, it is unbelievable!!

Whether we believe in Christ or not , Christmas has long been recognised as a time of giving and thanks, the giving of gifts is both attributed to gifts recieved by the parebts of christ when he was born, and a pagan ritual of celebration and giving thanks for the bounties of nature. Whether we believe or not, those who are offended are in general terms wankers, to be blunt, why should people be so offended by any celebration of life and spirituality, just because they do not believe in any form of God. Very sad way to live, however being a Christian Catholic, I have no problem with the loy attached to Christmas both by christians and non christians, I have four young children who all , except for the baby understand the signifince of Christmas, however the joy on their faces is to me the closest thing one can experience to the look of purity and goodness possible. I guess some people are just very sad and embitted.

The Atheist is stereotyping what he has either been around or has seen over the years. God forbid there be true Christians out in the world to differ against his religious beliefs. To be untolerable of others' belief system is a sign of captivity and of a close minded nature. Wish me what you will, but give me the freedom to believe what I will.

I've started to believe that having faith can be the strongest ally on your side..regardless of belief-structure.
