A class of young elementary children started a new class project and they each began making plant pots to take home to their moms for Mother's Day. The teacher wanted a plant that would be easy to grow and easy to care for so the decision was made to use cactus plants.

The children were then all given the greenware pottery in cute little clown style pots.
They then painted them nicely and glazed them and took them to a class outing and had them professionally fired so that they could all see the process.

It was great fun. They all planted their cactus seed in the finished clown planters and over a period of a few days they all started to grow nicely.

Unfortunately, the teacher decided not to allow the children to take their planters home to their mothers.

The cactus plants were removed and then replaced with small ivy plants. The children were then permitted to take the planters home and present them to their moms.

The teacher explained, "It seemed like a great idea at the time."
